Welcome to my "Sistahs with Heart" Personal Homepage. The Indiana chapter of SwH, is one of three. We each have our own personal causes that are dear to our hearts, but as a group we are currently aiming to raise funds for the 'National World War II Memorial". It is inpertinent that we not forget those that have fought for our freedom, thost that got permanently wounded for our freedom, and those who died for our freedom. The least we can do is to erect a monument in their memory! Let them and their families know that, they will never not forgotten!!   My personal cause is something that is not only very dear to my heart, but that can also infuriate me more than anything else in this world! This is my personal cause, Child Abuse!!!! I'm not here to tell you of all the gruesome, horrifying stories, heck all you have to do for that is open your daily newspaper, watch your local news, talk to people at work, or at the grocery store. Back in the early '80's child abuse was brought to our attention. All the talk shows did numerous pieces, covering the subject of child abuse. They brought to us all the horrible pictures, all the gruesome detals, and the sentences handed down to the abusers. For awhile that is ALL you would find on the TV. But now,it seems as though it's old news...doesn't bring in the ratings, so on to something new. That's one part of it all that infuriates me. These shows have brought it to our attention, told and showed us all the horrific stories, and then POOF!!! What's being done about it? Far as I know NOTHING!! I still hear or read about all the stories, and the sentences these abusers get. Althought I don't actually call them sentences, just time off and away from their other kids. WHEN will these talk shows aim their topics at new getting some laws changed??? WHEN will people get sick and tired of hearing about these tragedies, and DEMAND that new laws be changed, or put into affect? When a couple, charged with 'animal cruelty' and 'neglect' recieves a harsher punishment then some of those I've seen for child abuse, even murder. I can't help but wonder what kind of message is this sending? That our pet animals mean more than our own children? And when a man is a known child molester, with several convictions, is let out to molest again...and murder..something just isn't right here!!!! What on earth are the law makers and the judicial system trying to say to us??? Aren't we in a country where the goverment is chosen by the people for the people? Well I say it's time "we" the people tell our goverment that laws against child abuse, and I mean ALL types of abuse, MUST be changed! And if none exist then it's time we make them! TODAY!!! If your like me, I know that your heart breaks everytime you hear of a child that's been abused, or murdered. You wouldn't be human if it didn't! It bothers you. It upsets you. It disgusts you! It angers you. It confuses you. And so much more! But you think..."What can I possibly do about it? I'm just one person." It is an overwhelming feeling. But, if we unite, and make a stand "together", we could MOVE mountains!!! Please join me, join us, in our crusade! finally decide that it's time eveyone knows that CHILD ABUSE has to STOP and STOP now!! IT IS TIME FOR CHANGE.....THESE

 My name is Misty I am but three, My eyes are swollen I cannot see, I must be stupid, I must be bad, What else could have made My daddy so mad? I wish I were better I wish I weren't ugly, Then maybe my mommy Would still want to hug me. I can't speak at all I can't do a wrong Or else I'm locked up All the day long. When I awake I'm all alone The house is dark My folks aren't home When my mommy does come I'll try and be nice, So maybe I'll get just One whipping tonight. Don't make a sound, I just heard a car My daddy is back From Charlie's Bar. I hear him curse My name he calls I press myself Against the wall I try and hide From his evil eyes I'm so afraid now I'm starting to cry He finds me weeping He shouts ugly words, He says its my fault That he suffers at work. He slaps me and hits me And yells at me more, I finally get free And I run for the door. He's already locked it And I start to bawl, He takes me and throws me Against the hard wall. I fall to the floor With my bones nearly broken, And my daddy continues With more bad words spoken. "I'm sorry!", I scream But its now much too late His face has been twisted Into unimaginable hate The hurt and the pain Again and again Oh please God, have mercy! Oh please let it end! And he finally stops And heads for the door, While I lay there motionless Sprawled on the floor My name is Misty And I am but three, Tonight my daddy Murdered me.
