Athena's Note

A Personal note from Athena....

With regards to the first annual Roundup

As many of you know last December 4, 1999, The First Annual Roundup was held in Brooklyn, New York. We had a very wonderful turnout and all got to meet some of the friends we have made online. I for one was very pleased with the turnout of the roundup and look forward to the 2nd Annual in September 2000.

I have to say all the folks that came and celebrated and enjoyed meeting their online friends and some family made the Roundup's success. It is to these people I wish to extend my gratitude for attending and making it the success it was. Many of you have already informed me of your intentions to come back and I am working now on making it more special and memorable for you all. I have some very exciting things in the works and will have keep everyone informed of what is to be expected on this web page. So keep this in your favorites and check it from time to time.

This year's roundup will also go to benefit the veterans. We are planning to have a fundraiser to raise money to donate to the National World War II Memorial wall in Washington D.C. This memorial will be the first national Memorial dedicated to the brave men and women who served our country and helped give us all we have today. I am the very proud daughter of one of those veterans, who with the grace of God made it home. This year we have a committee of dedicated women working on this event and we are all very honored to be part of such a worthy cause. Too many of us forget this fine Americans that have fought so hard for all of our future and us.

I would like to start with the birth of this roundup. It sprang from an idea I had to have a get together with some friends at a bar in the village of NYC. Feathrangl and BklynhrlyG helped me get it off the ground, it started to get to be too many people for the tiny village bar, so Sinabunzzz suggested I get use of my ex-husband's place that was much bigger, he (Darkshovelsoul) got us permission to use the place, NycSinister helped me with the directions for all the partygoers and also was on standby with his cell for those that got lost. Magsisback got all the hotel information for anyone that needed that information and highwaythunder made the invitation. The club where it was held did a wonderful job with keeping everything running smoothly and making sure everyone's bikes, cars and property stayed safe. Not to forget the wonderful breakfast made for all that crashed the next morning.

And lastly, I would like to personally thank all of the generous people that donated their time and effort and brought food donations to the roundup to feed all those hungry folks. It is generosity such as yours that helped make it very special.
BklynHrlyG..........thanks to you for all the wonderful and very tasty Chicken fillets and Pasta salads. you were more then generous with all your help and support before during the whole Roundup. I love you.
